Dunedin 23-25 July 2021
This training is more than an education, it is a transformational learning experience. It is a training that offers you immediate tools, methods and interventions in order to instantaneously cultivate a more trauma-informed approach in your current studio, classes, business, organization, and offerings.
A holistic approach to discovering the connections between empowerment and resilience with personal exploration, invitational language, safe space creation, supportive solutions, and facilitating choice making. Join us to begin the shift from simply offering practices to embodying your special role as a facilitator of restoration, wellness and community building by offering trauma-informed practices to all humans in diverse communities.
What is Trauma Informed?
Trauma-informed means taking into account past trauma and the resulting coping mechanisms when attempting to understand the behaviors of those we are working alongside. It means bringing empathy and compassion to every interaction and creating a safe and accessible space for all.
Who is This Training For?
This 20Hr Training is designed for yoga professionals (instructors, staff, studio owners), healthcare and mental health professionals, social and civil service professionals, teachers, first responders, humanitarian volunteers, staff and leaders, and all those who work with survivors of trauma wishing to incorporate yoga and movement-based practices into their work environments.
Through a better understanding of the body and how it is affected during certain circumstances and events (mentally, physically and emotionally), we as humans are able to ultimately return ourselves back to a balanced state of living, thus breaking the pattern of stress, anxiety, and eventually trauma within ourselves, our community and our globe.
During this training participants will:
Evaluate the science behind the mind/body connection
How trauma anatomically affects the body
How to identify trauma symptoms and trigger responses
Tools to promote biological resiliency, self-regulation and resolution
Protocol and best practices in the field
Community building and outreach methods
Ahimsa and the importance of self-care
How to create a safe space
Teaching methods for classrooms, yoga studios, healthcare practitioners, etc...
These trainings are offered in partnership with Legacy Motion, a non-profit organization that promotes resilience, empowerment, trauma resolution, psychosocial coexistence, peace and community building through restorative, movement-based practices. Through interrelated projects, Legacy Motion dedicates itself to evaluating, creating and implementing high-quality sustainable programs based on experience and collaborations in the field.
This training meets some of the requirements for certification as a Legacy Motion Facilitator.
This training also meets some of the requirements for certification through The Self-Agency Academy, a school dedicated to ensuring all offerings in the community have a mental health informed approach to promote safety and accessibility for all.

Equity in Investment - Choosing your tier
We are committed to offering trainings that are of the highest quality, affordable and accessible while striving to keep equity and mutual exchange at the soul of how we serve.
We recognize that we live in systems of inequity and we strive to find ways of finding balance within this. We feel that the deepest engagement and greatest benefit comes when there is a meaningful mutual exchange.
For these reasons, we offer tiered pricing. There is an invitation to reflect on your access to resources and privilege, the value of this work, what you can genuinely afford, and what you might pay for comparable training programs. By committing to what is truly within your means you make it possible for others to show up within theirs and we are all grateful for this.
All prices are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD)
TIER 1: $550 – For those who are financially well-resourced. Reflects the value of the course in Western economic markets.
TIER 2: $450 – For those on medium incomes and access to financial resources.
TIER 3: $375 – For those on low incomes, caring responsibilities and from marginalized communities.
In addition to our tiered pricing, we also have scholarships available for: 1) People from non-western / low-economy countries and financially marginalized communities, who otherwise would be unable to access a training such as this. 2) People experiencing serious personal / financial hardship. To apply for a scholarship please complete our scholarship application form. Applications close 2 weeks prior to each course start date. Currently, this mentorship is not offered in person and has limited space online. However, if space is full upon registration you will be offered additional date options.
